As Apple is due to refresh its MacBook Pro lineup, attention has been turning to what devices its competitors will be bringing out, and one of these is rumored to be the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. However, even though Microsoft has not made the plans for this tablet/laptop device public, rumors indicate that it could arrive in June.

Rumors about the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 have been circulated at high speed on various websites. On these, there are indications that Microsoft is planning an early release to take on any possible laptops that Apple is expected to announce during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016. Since this particular event is scheduled to take place between June 13-17 in San Francisco, competing devices could be released anytime before or after it.

However, until now, Microsoft has remained relatively silent on the fate of its Surface Pro lineup and the company has not announced or teased any new offerings. Analysts and consumers are however hoping that this will change as WWDC 2016 comes around. This has led to speculation that Microsoft could be planning its release just as its Windows 10 Redstone 2 update rolls out.

Meanwhile, last year's Surface Pro 4 was affected by a range of issues that saw the power being drained when the device was in sleep mode. These issues have since been resolved with a software update, but they are thought to stem from the mix of software and hardware which is on the Surface lineup. Microsoft will therefore be hoping that its upcoming Surface Pro 5 will sidestep these issues and it is looking to use new processors to achieve this goal. These processors are thought to be the Kaby Lake version which is due to be launched on May 31 and then subsequently make its way to devices.

According to Neurogadget, the launch of these processors could indicate that Microsoft will subsequently release the Surface Pro 5 but customers will have to wait until October to get their hands on it.
