Months after Microsoft released its Surface Pro 4, fans are already eager to find out what the tech giant is planning for the Surface Pro 5. And recently, reports suggest that the computer may arrive sometime in October with a brand new OS codenamed Redstone.

While it may be a bit surprising for some if Microsoft unveils its next generation Surface Pro soon, some outlets suggest that the new laptop will come in October of this year, to create a fair and reasonable gap from the previous computer's launch.

Modern Readers notes though that October 2016 may be too soon for a release date since it would only give Microsoft months, instead of a year, to prepare for the big day. This then comes to the conclusion that the tech giant may bring about the actual release later this year, around December, or even early 2017.

Meanwhile, rumors are hot on the Surface Pro 5's heels as new reports claim the upcoming device will be powered with Microsoft's next Windows 10 upgrade, called the Redstone 2. According to Country Caller, Redstone, also known as the anniversary update, is believed to be integrated in the new Surface Pro as the company allegedly plans to roll out the update by early 2017.

As always, Microsoft has been tight-lipped regarding the reports so there is no clear understanding of how it is planning to deal with the next gen laptop. On the other hand, it is speculated that the new Surface Pro will come with either one of the latest Intel processors: Skylake, with Intel Core m3, Intel Core i5, or Intel Core i7.

With the most up-to-date processors, it is only reasonable that the Surface Pro 5 features an internal storage of at least 6 GB RAM and internal storage of 128 GB. Its predecessor became adored among all the other new devices due to its sharp display, and it is speculated that the upcoming Surface Pro will sport an even more vibrant 4K display.

It is worth noting though that Microsoft has not given any official word regarding the price, release date, and specs of the Surface Pro 5 so experts suggest to take any rumor with a grain of salt until official announcements are made.
