Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs rumors: Device not expected this year

(Microsoft Official) Shown in the picture is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. According to rumors, the Surface Pro 5 will not be released this year.

Despite numerous sources saying that the Surface Pro 5 is getting released before the year ends, the latest buzz in the rumor mill indicates that the anticipated device will not make it to store shelves earlier than 2017.

There have been numerous reports claiming that Microsoft will roll out several of its Surface line products this year, such as the Surface Phone, Surface Book 2, and the Surface Pro 5. However, according to the latest report, it is now predicted that the Surface Pro 5 will not arrive this 2016.

In fact, there have already been earlier predictions that along with the Surface Pro 5, Microsoft will also delay the release of all its other rumored devices. Allegedly, the company is still waiting for Redstone — aka RS2 as it is the second update — which is slated to arrive in early 2017.

It is also alleged that the company is still waiting for Intel's Kaby Lake processor, which its Surface products will pack.

However, despite the uncertainty about its release date, there are also numerous rumors about what the Surface Pro 5 will offer as far as its features and specs are concerned. Allegedly, the device will come in two variants in terms of screen display; the 2k and 4k resolution. It could also come with USB Type-C support.

While it's true that the current Surface Pro 4 already comes with the Surface Pen, it is also said that the upcoming Surface Pro 5 will have the upgraded version of the accessory that can charge wirelessly when it docks on the device.

The Surface Pro 5 was expected to arrive last June, but the speculation turned out to be false. The current Surface Pro 4 impressed its owners, it is but understandable why Microsoft fans have been excitedly waiting for the arrival of the Surface Pro 5, which might outdo its predecessor.

Unfortunately, the device's release date is still up in the air as Microsoft has not yet released any official statement.
