Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs, rumors: laptop to be unveiled during Windows 10 event?

(Microsoft)Will the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 come during the company's Windows 10 event on October 26?

On Oct. 26, Microsoft will hold a huge media event that will supposedly focus on the Windows 10 and other devices that the company will be unveiling. It is also highly speculated that at the same day, the Surface Pro 5 will be introduced.

Fans have been waiting for updates on the highly anticipated laptop and there are a lot of expectations regarding the new features that the fifth-generation device will sport. The alleged Oct. 26 unveiling may finally ease all the worries of consumers.

If Microsoft does launch its Surface Pro 5 on that day, there is a good chance the flagship will be compared to Apple's MacBook 2016 version, which is expected to come sometime late this month.

There are numerous rumors about the Surface Pro 5's features such as the introduction of Intel Core's seventh-gen processor, the Kaby Lake. This processor is said to offer a 3D display and 4K resolution for a highly improved visual experience, especially for those in the gaming realm.

Consumers should also look forward to the purported replacement of the disposable batteries that come with the Surface Pen. A rechargeable battery may be introduced with the new Surface Pro. This is good news for those who have long been complaining about the unreliability of the single-use ones.

Meanwhile, other reports dismiss the October 2016 release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Some outlets suggest that a spring 2017 launch is much more plausible at this point since the technology giant is waiting to unleash the second part of its Windows 10 update sometime early next year.

Microsoft will allegedly wait until the second update arrives before the Surface Pro 5 is launched.

It is unclear if any of the reports are legitimate at this time since Microsoft has not responded to the rumors. For now, fans can keep hoping that the upcoming Surface Pro lands on retail stores in the next couple of months or so.

Stay tuned for more updates on Microsoft's upcoming releases and big October event.
