Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs rumors: When will hybrid be coming out?

(Microsoft Store)

The official release date of the Surface Pro 5 still remains a mystery up to this point, and Microsoft has yet to provide any hints regarding what they have planned.

Rumors have been all over the map, or the calendar in this case, when it comes to potential release dates, with some predicting that it will be arriving very soon and others indicating that it may not be available for a while.

Some rumors have suggested that the Surface Pro 5 may be announced this May, followed shortly by a release taking place in June.

According to PC Advisor UK, it's unlikely that Microsoft will unveil their new tablet well before 12 months have passed, thus making the May to June timeline anything but a sure bet.

Conversely, if Microsoft were to adhere to a 12 month interval between releasing new tablets, then that could mean that Surface Pro 5 will be making its debut this fall.

Specifically, it could mean that the new tablet will be announced this October, followed by it being released before the end of that same month, just as Microsoft did last year for the Surface Pro 4.

Still, this timeline is also far from guaranteed at this point.

Rumored features of the new tablet may prompt Microsoft to hold off on releasing it this year and that could even lead to it not being made available until perhaps 2017.

According to ZD Net, Microsoft could still decide to move forward with releasing the new tablet this year, though some rumored features such as the Kaby Lake processors may not be included.

Should Microsoft opt against releasing the new tablet this fall, then the next possible release window for it may be in the spring of next year.

More news about the release date of Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 tablet should be made available later this year.
