Tension rises between the Dunphys and the Prichetts in the upcoming episode 3, titled "Blindsided," of the eighth season of the American family comedy series "Modern Family."

Luke (Nolan Gould) decides to run for senior class president since he thinks it is his best option of getting into college. However, running for the coveted position means running against his closest friend and family, Manny (Rico Rodriguez). Because of this, the Dunphys and Pritchetts may compete with each other. Moreover, their families will get more involved when Jay (Ed O'Neill), Gloria (Sofia Vergara), and Claire (Julie Bowen) decide to join as campaign managers.

Meanwhile, Haley (Sarah Hyland) has finally launched her own promotion business. Looking to even develop her daughter's business potential, Phil introduces her to marketing guru Mery Schechter. Cam (Eric Stonestreet), on the other hand, is saddened by the news that his star football player decides to move away. However, he settles on something, perhaps to make the player stay, which could result to his and Mitch's home to feel a little cramped.

In other news, "Modern Family" recently introduced its new cast, Jackson Millarker, in the previous episode, titled "A Stereotypical Day." The transgender child actor played as Lily's friend named Tom. Millarker's parents shared how they prepared for their son's TV debut.

"When we explained the role to him, he was very excited about the opportunity to portray a character that is so similar to himself," moms Stacey and Jen told PEOPLE. "Jackson has been a young activist in our community and he knew that 'Modern Family' would portray the role of a transgender child in a positive light."

The said episode saw Mitch and Cam teaching Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) not to insult her friends and accept them for who they are.
