Mortal Kombat X is confirmed for a 2015 release date on most gaming platforms such as PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

WB Games UK announced this via their verified Twitter account:

"Mortal Kombat X announced for 2015 on PS3, PS4, X360, XBone &PC! First public appearance at E3 in LA next week - http://www.mortalkombat.com  #MKX"

Ecumenical News recently reported about the new "kombatants" that were revealed by NetherRealm during the last EVO 2014.

Included in the confirmed roster are: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Kotal Kahn and Raiden, the thunder god.

The story of the Mortal Kombat X is set 25 years after the events of 2011's Mortal Kombat took place.

Several of the main characters have already died, with only Sub-Zero and Scorpion surviving the original cast.

Back in the day, savvy players would have secret combinations and work on complicated control schemes to unveil certain powers and skills.

Now, the developers has simplified the combat process and incorporated smoother controls.

So far, NetherRealm has juts revealed three arenas for Mortal Kombat X including a snowy forest, a pier and an Outworld market.

Each environment will be packed with at least half a dozen of interactive segments.

The "stamina meters" were also enhanced to avoid cheating, as it refreshes after a second or two.

Outside of game development news, the Director of Mortal Kombat, Kevin Tancharoen (known from "Glee 3D" and "Fame"), has also hinted about the possibility of bringing Mortal Kombat to the big screen once again:

"I'm starting to talk to Warner Bros. and the video game creators, so hopefully we can see it through."

The Mortal Kombat series already has a legendary status, but reviving it at this day and age where fighting and RPG games are at the peak of the competition, would require a tremendous amount of effort to put together stunning visuals and excellent gaming experience.
