Moto X Style vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Can the superb Note 4 beat the latest Motorola flagship phablet?

Motorola has a new phablet-sized device in the form of the Moto X Style, but there is no doubt that the king in the phablet arena is the Galaxy Note 4. Will it be able to take on Samsung's device? Here is how the two devices compare.

Design

The Note 4 is a phablet, equipped with several great features including the S Pen Stylus, which makes entering data or drawing on the screen very accurate. It also has a finger print scanner integrated into its home button. However, its build it mostly made of plastic and only has a visible metal frame around its edge. Its back panel is covered with soft pleather and it comes in four colors, white, black, gold and pink.

As for the Moto X Style, it can be extensively customized on the Moto Maker website. Users can choose their own colored lenses and the material they want for their own device's back panel. They can choose from silicone, leather and wood for the back panel, as well as choose the color they want for the anodized frame. However, unlike the Note 4, it does not have a finger print scanner or a stylus.

Display

The display on the Moto X Style consists of a TFT LCD screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 520 pixels per inch. As for the Note 4, it comes with a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 515 pixels per inch.

Specs

The Moto X Style wins this category as it is equipped with better hardware. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, a hexa-core CPU with two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and an Adreno 418 GPU. In the Note 4 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a Krait 450 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

Both devices have memory card slots which can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, each phablet has 3 GB on board.

Camera

The rear camera on the Note 4 is one of the best available on mobile devices. It comes with a 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization while the Moto X Style has a 21 megapixel camera.

Price

The Moto X Style is going to be released in the United States as the Pure Edition and will be priced at $399 without a contract. As for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it costs $299 with a two-year contract.
