Motorola may have released a new lineup of smartphones this year with the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, but many are still waiting to see if the company brings out new phones in addition to these. The devices in last year's lineup from the company included the Moto X Play, and this year, rumors have indicated that it will be followed by the Moto Z Play.

Rumors about the Moto Z Play have been swirling for a while, and recently, the device was seen on Geekbench. In this particular listing, the smartphone was seen with a model number XT1635-01 and its chipset was revealed to be the Snapdragon 625.

This chipset was previously seen in rumors that focused on a device named Vertex which arrived a few weeks ago. At that time, the Vertex was rumored to be releasing with the Vector Thin. However, when the Vector Thin arrived in the market, it came as the Moto Z which has been billed as a flagship.

Among the other details revealed in the Geekbench listing was that the upcoming device from Motorola would have a RAM of 3GB. Also, the Snapdragon 625 chipset is paired with an octa-core CPU which is clocked at 2.02GHz. In terms of display size, it is thought to be a 5.5-inch version with a resolution of 1080p. As for the camera, it is likely to have a 16-megapixel version at its rear and a 5-megapixel version in the front.

Meanwhile, Motorola has not outlined whether or not the Moto Z Play will be releasing this year. However, analysts are of the opinion that since the Vector Thin has already released, the Vertex could not be very far behind. Going by the specifications that have been listed for the smartphone, so far, it is likely that the device will be a mid-range offering and could support the Moto Mods which were released for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force.
