Motorola Mobility has reached out to AT&T to recall Nexus 6 units due to fatal bugs, which prompted the U.S. carrier to release a notice to their customers to return the handset immediately.

One of the several reports littered online captured a screenshot of the notice from AT&T.

"Initial shipments of Nexus 6 devices were shipped with incorrect software from Motorola. While only initial shipments are impacted, we're requesting that all Nexus 6 inventory be returned immediately. Motorola has identified the root cause of the issue and is currently working on shipments with correct software. New inventory availability will be communicated within the next few days," a parcel of the statement reads, in the apparent AT&T system notice, which also include steps to be taken and the availability of the next batches of Nexus 6.

Motorola confirmed the report via a statement published by Re/code.

"We delivered a small number of Nexus 6 smartphones with incorrect software to AT&T customers who preordered," a Motorola representative told Re/code.

The major glitch that AT&T customers may have ran into is basically a software issue. Apparently, when a user turns on the unit, it shows a black screen and then fails to connect to the server. In essence, the phone is useless.

This is perhaps something that cannot be fixed by an OTA update, which is why the recall order has been sent out.

Nexus 6 is the latest high-end smartphone from Google and Motorola. The handset boasts a 6-inch Quad HD display, 13 MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and HDR , 3220 mAh battery pack and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.

However, for these specs to be useful, the device must work first. That is a different story that both tech giants will have to address as soon as possible.

Nexus 6 by Motorola retails for $649.99 without contract.
