Motorola DROID 2015: rumored device's chassis and back panel shown in new leak

(Motorola)New Moto DROID Turbo is leaked

Last month, Motorola brought out three smartphones: the flagship Moto X Style, the cheaper Moto X Play and the budget-priced third generation Moto G. And while the company, which was purchased by Lenovo last year, has yet to update its line of DROID devices, many assume that the lineup will get a new device soon.

Motorola has remained silent on the future of their DROID line, but rumors on the Internet have been suggesting that a new device is already in the works. The device in question, according to many, is the Motorola Droid 2015 and just recently, its alleged back panel and chassis made an appearance on the Internet.

The leaked photo of the chassis revealed that the device would have a metal frame, pretty similar to what is currently used for the Moto X Style and Moto X Play. Another important feature revealed in the chassis was a coil for wireless charging, which means that the device will support the Qi Wireless charging protocol — a feature which was present on last year's DROID Turbo.

As for the back panel, the leaked photos revealed that it will have a similar finish to what was seen on the recently released Moto X Play. This could mean that the rumored Droid Turbo might finally offer some customization options and users will not be simply restricted to choosing between ballistic nylon and Kevlar.

When the rumored DROID Turbo 2015 images surfaced on the Internet, many industry pundits were quick to point out that it appears to be very much like the Moto X Play — a device, which is not currently on sale in the United States. This could mean that Motorola does not want the X Play to compete with the DROID Turbo 2015.

More importantly, last year's DROID came with a huge 3900 mAh battery and the Moto X Play has a 3630 mAh battery on board. This further points toward Motorola only releasing one of these devices in the US.
