'Narcos' season 2 spoilers, release date news: Colombian authorities out on a manhunt for Pablo Escobar

(Facebook / Narcos)'Narcos' season 2 features Escobar's death but the show is said to continue on even without the druglord.

"Narcos" season 2's official trailer has finally arrived. Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) is set to return this September.

The trailer reveals that season 2 will be about Escobar's run from the authorities. As seen in the video, the new installment will feature more action and exchange of gunfire. The Colombian authorities are adamant in making sure that the notorious kingpin's reign in the drug industry will end.

Also in the video, DEA Agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) was heard saying, "Okay let me break it down for you: 4,000 soldiers, tens of thousands of rounds fired, and a bunch of f****** helicopters — there was no way Pablo Escobar was getting out of this one... right?" It turns out he was wrong because once the soldiers had Escobar cornered, the druglord simply said "excuse me" and walked past them. The actual news footage of that time when Escobar made his escape from prison was also featured.

With Escobar out of prison, it is expected that the persistent FBI agents Murphy and Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) are going to do everything for payback. The hunt for Escobar will get violent as seen in the teaser, and at the end of the clip, it appears that Peña was taken by Escobar's group.

Since the show is based on a true story, spoilers are inevitable and it is expected that Escobar will die – and that happens in season 2. Producer Eric Newman already confirmed that Moura will end his role as Escobar when this installment ends. "He will die," Newman said, according to Slashfilm.

However, the end of Escobar would not necessarily mean the end of "Narcos" entirely. Newman hints that the show could go on for more seasons even without Moura playing the role.

New episodes of "Narcos" season 2 will premiere on Netflix on Sept. 2.
