'NCIS: LA' season 7: premiere episode sees Callen and partner Sam reunite over a dead body; Kensi and Deek's mother to meet

After the intense and action-packed season six, it's no wonder that "NCIS: Los Angeles" fans are waiting with bated breath for what's to come in season seven. When the popular "NCIS" spinoff wrapped up season six, viewers discovered that Hetty (Linda Hunt) lied to Callen (Chris O'Donnell) when she told him that his father was dead. But now that the truth is out, it will have serious repercussions on both Callen and his team.

Reports say season seven will open with Callen having gone rogue and has set out on a secret mission that undoubtedly has something to do with his father.

According to showrunner, Shane Brennan, Callen will find himself "in a difficult situation with Hetty and Sam" because of his decision to keep his team in the dark. He also defies Hetty's orders to abort his mission, leaving Sam (LL Cool J), Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and the rest to find him before he reaches the point of no return; and if they are unsuccessful, then another team might be brought in to find him.

Viewers will know more about Callen's mission in the premiere episode, "Active Measure." The episode will see Callen reuniting with his partner, Sam, over a dead body. While he might have returned to the fold, it would seem that Callen wasn't able to resolve anything and this will allegedly lead to something interesting midway through the season.

Brennan, more or less confirmed this when he said that as per NCIS' tradition, they "plant the seeds of something to come, and it has a fairly major impact halfway through the season, in a double-episode." There have been rumors that Very Special Agent, Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), will be making a guest appearance next season and this might be what brings him back to Los Angeles.

On a lighter note, fans who have long shipped Kensi and Deeks will be happy to know that their relationship will apparently grow stronger next season, with Deeks set to introduce the love of his life to his mother.

To know more about how serious Callen is with finding his father or how Kensi will react to Deek's mother, check out "NCIS: L.A." when it returns for a seventh season on Sept. 21.
