'NCIS: LA' season 8 spoilers: Under Secretary of Defense kicks out Hetty and Granger?

(NCIS Los Angeles / Facebook)"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 premieres on Sunday night, Sept. 25, on CBS.

The Under Secretary of Defense holds the reins of the NCIS Los Angeles unit in the upcoming 2-hour premiere episode, titled "High-Value Target" and "Belly of the Beast Part 1," of the eighth season of the police procedural drama "NCIS: Los Angeles."

Despite the efforts to pinpoint the mole inside the department of NCIS, the team still failed. So, Under Secretary of Defense Corbin Duggan (Jackson Hurst) is determined to make some changes in the leadership of the unit and decides to take over it from Hetty (Linda Hunt) and Granger (Miguel Ferrer).

Meanwhile, the team is tasked to fly to Syria to apprehend a High Value Target. However, it looks like things will not go as smooth as they have expected after a member ends up severely injured.

The promo trailer for both "High Value Target" and "Belly of the Beast" show that the upcoming premiere episode is going to be action-packed. All the team members are busy with their missions and it looks like there is a task that they have to complete urgently.

Way before the series announced its premiere date, there have already been a lot of speculations on the plot of the upcoming season.

According to reports, lovebirds Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) may be tying the knot this season, or at least get engaged. In season 7, the two moved in together and the next step could finally be their much-awaited wedding. However, it may also be delayed since they are speculated to spend more time away from each other because of the duties they have to fulfill at work.

Meanwhile, more of G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) is expected to be explored. He was introduced last season as the mysterious agent joining the Special Projects team. Not a lot about his past is known, so it is expected that it will be given light this season.
