'NCIS' season 13 spoilers: Tony says goodbye in episode 24; huge guest cast expected in the season finale

(Facebook/NCIS)Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo says goodbye to "NCIS" in the season 13 finale.

It's the episode that a lot of "NCIS" fans are dreading — the finale of season 13. While the CBS stalwart is set to return for at least two more seasons, episode 24 will be Michael Weatherly's last.

Die-hard "NCIS" fans were shocked when the actor revealed several months ago that he was indeed leaving the show that had made him a household name. Since then, viewers had been wondering how DiNozzo's (Weatherly) exit will play out. Some fans say the agent will leave to head his own team, while others are no doubt hoping that he's leaving to be with Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), his former colleague and longtime love. Luckily, "NCIS" showrunners have been quick to dismiss the rumors that the character will be killed off.

What is clear though is that DiNozzo's final episode will leave fans in awe and in tears, if the trailer for episode 24, aptly titled "Family First," is anything to go by. The short clip starts with DiNozzo introducing himself over the phone as Very Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, perhaps for the final time. Viewers are then treated to a montage of Tony's most memorable scenes, like his kiss with Ziva, the time he dived into the river to save Gibb's (Mark Harmon) life, DiNozzo running after a suspect and nearly being killed by a bus that exploded last season.

As the teaser clip invites fans to be there for Tony's final episode, the agent is shown hugging McGee (Sean Murray) and Bishop (Emily Wickersham) goodbye. Abby (Pauley Perrette) is then seen telling Tony that she will really miss him. They're in the elevator, which has become synonymous as the team's safe place, where they have their most heartfelt conversations. But what will definitely get fans teary-eyed is the scene of Tony saying goodbye to Gibbs in the basement of his mentor's house. The usually brusque agent hugs Tony and tells him to take care of himself.

Fans can expect to see a lot of old faces appearing in this season's finale, like DiNozzo Sr. (Robert Wagner). Recently released photo stills show Tony's father helping him as he packs for a trip.

The finale will see Gibbs' team, the FBI, and MI6 continue their manhunt for an escaped British spy who's targeting "NCIS" agents, both old and new. While the situation seems dire, it pales in comparison to the fact that fans will soon be bidding one of the show's driving forces adieu.

The finale of "NCIS" season 13 will be aired on May 17 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
