'NCIS' season 14 release date, spoilers: Wilmer Valderrama shares spoiler for premiere episode

(Facebook / NCIS)'NCIS' season 14 returns to NBC in September.

"NCIS" will be much different when it returns for its 14th season now that Michael Weatherly and his much loved character, Tony DiNozzo, is no longer part of the series. However, with Weatherly's exit comes the arrival of new faces, including Wilmer Valderrama's.

Although Valderrama steps in to fill the empty spot that Tony had left behind, he does not consider his character Nick Torres as a direct replacement of the quirky DiNozzo. "[Weatherly] had a fantastic journey with the show. The truth is there's no shoes to fill, I'm definitely wearing my own," Valderrama said during the recent San Diego Comic Con.

Valderrama will join Jennifer Esposito and Duane Henry, considered to be newbies in the longtime running CBS series. "Blue Blood's" Esposito recently joined the cast and she will be playing the role of Alexandra Quinn, an instructor recruited by Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Henry, on the other hand, was promoted to series regular after his guest appearances as MI-6 officer Clayton Reeves in the final episodes of season 13.

Valderrama shared his thoughts about the new cast members who have joined "NCIS." According to him, the newcomers should bring a different dynamic to the show. "Some of the new characters that are coming in... are challenging the genre," he told TVLine.

Valderrama has also been a source of spoilers lately. The actor regularly updates his Twitter account and recently, he shared a photo of the script of the premiere episode, which will be titled "Rogue," coupled with the caption "Hmmmmm I guess someone goes rogue in the season premiere of #NCIS.."

Yesterday, he also shared a video while on the set of "NCIS," confirming that season 14 episode 1 is complete and filming for episode 2 will start.

"NCIS" returns to CBS with a brand new season on Sept. 20, Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET.
