Nexus 7 2016 rumors: Specs, release date, features, and pricing details revealed

(Google Official)Nexus 7 tablet could be refreshed next year.

Google is rumored to release a new tablet to be added to the list of Nexus devices set to arrive this year. Word has it that the tech giant is considering Huawei to be in charge of developing an improved version of Nexus 7.

Nothing has been confirmed at this point, so Nexus tablet fans only have to depend on rumors to get an idea on what the new Nexus 7 might bring to the table. According to a source for Android Headlines, Nexus 7 (2016) will probably be presented at the 2016 Google I/O conference since several Nexus devices have already been on sale. The said conference will be held on May 18 to 20.

The current smartphone from Google, Nexus 5X, is now being offered with slashed prices, which likely suggests that a new product, believed to be Nexus 7, might soon be introduced. The Nexus 5X can be bought for as low as $299.

As for what consumers can expect from Nexus 7 2016, rumors suggest that the new device will have impressive specs, design, and features. There are reports stating that the tablet will run on the new Android N operating system (OS). It still remains to be seen what the N stands for, but it is speculated that it's either Nutella or Nougat.

Under the hood, Nexus 7 2016 is said to have a Snapdragon 810 processor, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It may also come with 4G support and Wi-Fi connectivity, according to KnowYourMobile. The device might also offer a QHD panel, although there's a chance that this might not be pushed through since they are expensive and Google is said to aim at developing affordable gadgets.

Meanwhile, Yibada also reported that the refreshed Nexus 7 will adopt Google Pixel C tablet's design. A different chipset has been reported in this case — Huawei's Kirin 950. The tablet is said to have a display size of 7 inches with a 2560 x 1800 pixel resolution.

Fans should know more about the Nexus 7 2016 once an official announcement is made.
