There has been a plethora of rumors surrounding the release of Nexus 8, while Google remains silent about any indication of a possible launch this year.

A Google community dedicated for Nexus 8 discussions, expectations and news has also been set up.

The latest update in this forum dated July 17th suggested a possible Nexus 8 tablet being spotted in an import database for India.

According to this document, there were two separate shipments of a Nexus 8 prototype tablet to the United States, first on June 30th and a second on July 4th.

Another report in the Google community speculates that the new tablet will be introduced to the market alongside Android L, which is arriving this fall.

Initial reports of a July launch were immediately shot down when it failed to appear at the last Google I/O Developers Conference.

Notorious online tipster @evleaks revealed that aside from T1 Volantis/Flounder/Nexus 9, HTC is developing two more tablets for Google's Nexus brand.

HTC rumors began spreading in February when a Taiwanese newspaper mentioned that its homegrown mobile titan has bagged a deal to produce a high end Google Nexus tablet.

Based from the information gathered online, Nexus 8 is expected to sport an 8.9-inch display with 2048 x 1440 resolution, 228 pixels per inch density, 64-bit processor by NVIDIA belonging to the Logan Tegra K1 range and will be supported by 2GB of RAM.

The tablet is also predicted to boast a zero-gap aluminum construction and will have an LTE variant.

The launch of a new tablet from the Nexus line is long overdue, as the first tablet, Nexus 7 was launched in 2012.

Moreover, Google will need to position a device that will go up against Apple's rumored iPad Mini with Retina Display and iPad Air 2.

Buzzes are also pointing towards the direction of HTC as the one responsible for the hardware design of the alleged Nexus 8.
