Nintendo Splatoon amiibo release date: Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, coming July 8

(Nintendo)Callie and Marie, the Squid Sisters, will be arriving on July 8.

Nintendo has announced the arrival of a new batch of amiibo figurines — two new "Splatoon" characters and three re-released characters from the same game. Given the popularity of the third-person shooter game, fans are surely anticipating the arrival of these new amiibo figurines.

Callie and Marie will be arriving on July 8. The sisters are also pop singers from Inkopolis who are more popularly known as the Squid Sisters. The two characters are the ones usually used to make game announcements, events, and DLCs.

Unlike previous amiibo releases, the Squid Sisters will not unlock new levels or will not be made playable; rather, they will unlock new music. When scanned in-game, players will be treated to new song and dance performances from the duo.

Callie and Marie will be available to purchase as a two-pack for $25. Otherwise, they will be individually sold for $13.

On the same day, Nintendo will also release recolored amiibo figurines of Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Inkling Squid. In "Splatoon," the Inklings are customizable characters that can easily respawn. They also have a special gene that allows them to see color in various ways.

The Inkling amiibo figurines can be purchased as a three-pack for $35 or individually of $13.

Like the previous versions, Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Inkling Squid will unlock in-game challenges and mini-games when scanned on the Wii U's GamePad.

"Splatoon" is currently available to play for the Nintendo Wii U console. In the popular shooter video game, players control Inklings — known for their ability to transform from a humanoid to a squid — as they make their way through different environments. Players can take part of four-on-four online multiplayer games or single-player campaigns.

The new "Splatoon" amiibo figurines will be available to purchase online from retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Toys R Us, and Walmart. Don't forget to check them out on July 8.
