"No Man's Sky" has turned into one of the most eagerly anticipated titles of 2016, and with its release taking place just over a month from now, this is the time to gain a better idea of what this ambitious game will be bringing to the table.

Arguably, one of the most intriguing features of the game is its sheer size, as it is set to take players to a universe containing a mind-boggling amount of planets and places to explore.

In an earlier interview with Time, Hello Games founder Sean Murray revealed that there will be in excess of 18 quintillion individual planets within the game, meaning seeing each and every inch of the universe will be downright impossible.

It's not an empty universe however as players will soon discover for themselves once they venture out and start visiting some of these planets.

Despite the game not having a main, over-arching narrative designed to provide players with bookends to their space-faring journey, there are still bits and pieces of information scattered all over the in-game universe that can provide players with a firmer grasp of their surroundings.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Murray revealed that in place of a main story will be lore.

The existing lore within "No Man's Sky" is there to provide players with some semblance of an explanation for why things are the way they are within the vast in-game universe.

The game is more than just exploration as well, as those who will opt to mix it up with the native inhabitants of certain planets will be given the opportunity do so.

Conversely, players can also choose to stay on friendly terms with the aliens they encounter as they instead attempt to solicit some assistance as they continue their journey.

Players will also be given the opportunity to name various in-game elements however they desire provided that they are the first ones to spot them.

A vast, open universe teeming with gameplay possibilities awaits players in "No Man's Sky" and they can see it for themselves when it is released in North America on June 21.
