'No Man's Sky' release date rumor: Mac version may be available 2016

"No Man's Sky" has no definite release date yet but many are anticipating that with a new trailer out, the announcement of when it will be hitting shelves is just around the corner. Amid the wait, though, another set of rumors came around, which claim that the adventure video game is also landing on Macs.

British developer and publisher, Hello Games, have announced "No Man's Sky" for the PC and Sony's PlayStation 4. Now, Apple-dedicated website, Macworld, is saying that there is a huge possibility of the title landing on Macs as well in 2016.

While a Mac-exclusive version is not needed to play a PC game on a Mac, lots of tell tale signs point to this possibility.

Though Hello Games' popular "Joe Danger" title has never reached Macs even after two years in the PC platform, its upcoming procedurally-generated open universe title has lots of parallelism with "Elite: Dangerous," which is available for the Mac.

The release of "Elite: Dangerous'" Mac version came only five months after the PC release, hinting on a market for such games among Apple computer users. But Macworld does point out that Hello Games may not have the resources to do the port themselves and may count on PC-to-Mac port experts, Feral, to do the job within six to twelve months since "No Man's Sky's" PC version's release.

Macworld has contacted Hello Games for any confirmation, as well as to expound on plans for a Mac version of the game, but they have yet to hear from the UK company.

"No Man's Sky" is a sci-fi fan's dream come true. It turns them into a planetary explorer struggling to survive while exploring different planets and universes. Via procedures, gamers will be required to build their own universes as well.

Stay tuned for further updates on "No Man's Sky's" release date for PC, PS4, and maybe even Mac.
