Ever since images of the purported Nokia Lumia 1030, popularly dubbed as "McLaren," surfaced last year, there have been rumors that Microsoft would be adding this new member to its Lumia family in 2015. Microsoft has not confirmed the rumor, but it is known to be rebranding the Lumia line sans Nokia, and the Lumia 1030 is widely believed to be the successor to the Nokia Lumia 1020, as well as the company's very first flagship.

The upcoming Windows 10 has created even more hype over the Lumia 1030, as the latest operating system will be the most unified ecosystem to be ever built by Microsoft and will become available before the next Lumia flagships are released. This means that the Lumia 1030 will run on the Windows 10 operating system, making it the most powerful handset to be launched by Microsoft and giving the company an edge over other leading Android smartphones available in the market.

There are speculations that Microsoft will introduce some eye-catching features in the Lumia 1030 to provide users with a suitable alternative to Android smartphones. Since the most attractive feature in its predecessor, the Lumia 1020, was the impressive 41 MP shooter, Microsoft is likely to bring out the Lumia 1030 with a whopping 50 MP high resolution camera, which can capture crystal clear images in stunning detail. It is believed that Microsoft will also incorporate its 3D touch technology with next-generation sensors in the Lumia 1030.

The Lumia 1030 is expected to have a complete metal architecture with a sturdy and solid frame that will be able to withstand a high amount of pressure. The device will reportedly feature a 5.8-inch quad HD display (1440x2560 resolution) and will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC along with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which will be expandable up to 128GB through microSD. The Lumia 1030 is also expected to feature a 2MP front-facing camera and a 2000 mAh battery.

The Lumia 1030 is expected to come out by the second quarter of 2015 and if the rumored features and specifications are indeed true, then the device could offer one of the best alternatives to Android smartphones in the market.
