(NVIDIA)The first GPUs based on the Pascal GP104 architecture may be unveiled on May 6.

NVIDIA is reportedly unveiling the GeForce GTX 1080 and the GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards in the next few days. These new products are based on NVIDIA's new Pascal GP104 GPU architecture.

To tease the arrival of the new graphics cards, NVIDIA sent various tech sites "Order of 10" campaign materials. After solving six pages of puzzles on the Order of 10 website, those participating were led to a countdown timer that is currently scheduled to go off on May 6. While NVIDIA has not released a statement, all the clues point to the unveiling of the GeForce 1000 series cards on the said date.

According to reports, DICE and Electronic Arts are also set to showcase "Battlefield 5" on the same day. Thus, many are suspecting that NVIDIA will use take the opportunity to use the first-person shooter video game to demonstrate the capabilities of its new GeForce GTX GPUs.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and the GeForce GTX 1080 are both based on the GP104 GPU core that uses a 16 nm FinFET process to deliver significantly improved performance.

The GeForce GTX 1080 GPU will come with 8 GB of GDDR5X memory. It also reportedly houses 8 billion transistors with a 2,560 core count. Despite a smaller size, it will have more power compared to the Maxwell-based graphics cards. On the other hand, specs for the GeForce GTX 1070 have yet to be uncovered. However, it is believed to have slightly less power than the GeForce GTX 1080 GPU.

Both GPUs are rumored to be released by June 2016. Pricing is estimated to range from about $599 for the GTX 1080 and $449 for the GTX 1070.

With no official world from NVIDIA, computer enthusiasts will just have to wait and see what the countdown timer reveals. For reference, the "Battlefield 5" event will be held on May 6, 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET.
