Oklahoma City Thunder free agency, trade rumors 2016: Victor Oladipo to get max extension deal?

Even before the Oklahoma City Thunder lost Kevin Durant in free agency, they'd already traded for a young prospect in guard Victor Oladipo, who is now reportedly seeking for a maximum salary.

Oladipo was one of three players acquired by Oklahoma City in its deal with the Orlando Magic last month. The move may have been a backup plan for the Thunder in case Durant decided to leave, which happened.

Now, it looks like Russell Westbrook is not the only player the Thunder must sign to a max extension pact because Oladipo is also looking for the same kind of deal, according to a report by ESPN's Zach Lowe.

Oladipo's current contract is expiring following the 2016-17 National Basketball Association (NBA) season and he is set to become a restricted free agent.

Despite Oladipo not commanding the same numbers Westbrook will likely have if he signs an extension, just the fact that he is aiming to get a max deal is already a problem for the Thunder.

For now, Oladipo's desire might take the backseat since Oklahoma City's main goal is to keep Westbrook through a long-term deal.

The Thunder and Oladipo will have until October 31 to come up with an agreement for an extension.

Another reason that may prevent Oladipo from getting what he wants aside from the Thunder prioritizing Westbrook is his status as a member of the franchise. Sure, he is a proven scorer with the Magic, but it is yet to be seen how he will fare now that he is in Oklahoma City. He is a newcomer and the organization may want to see him perform first before they contemplate on his wish.

The roster moves the Thunder accomplish next, including one that may involve Westbrook, as the off-season continues will determine Oladipo's future with the franchise.
