'Once Upon a Time' season 5: Emma's darkness strains Charming's relationship; becomes friends with King Arthur

"Once Upon A Time" will be upon us in a few short weeks and fans are already preparing themselves for what promises to be an outstanding season. The Dark Swan story aside, fans are also looking forward to how the Charmings will handle their daughter being the new Dark One.

Josh Dallas, who plays Prince Charming, dropped some very interesting hints regarding his character's journey next season. The 33-year-old actor revealed in an interview that Charming's relationship with Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) will be strained with the revelation that their daughter Emma (Jennifer Morrison) has sacrificed herself and became Storybrooke's greatest villain.

"There are things they're going to go through in finding their way back to Emma," Dallas said.

That is, of course, if Emma even wants to go back to them. The revelation that the Charmings sacrificed the soul of Maleficent's child for Emma painted the couple in a not-so-charming light and will make the Dark One situation even more challenging.

"It's going to be even harder to get Emma back than if they weren't such hypocrites really," admits Goodwin.

But fans know that the show will not be too heavy handed with the drama. Some of its quirky levity appears to be reserved for Charming and his "big bromance with King Arthur."

Ever the tease, Dallas said that Charming will be "at his most heroic in Camelot" when he and King Arthur "go on some adventures."

It seems that Camelot and the story of King Arthur will be given the "Once Upon a Time" treatment by showrunners, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, next season.

British actor Liam Garrigan will be playing King Arthur while Elliot Knight will handle the recurring role of Merlin. Portuguese actress, Joana Metrass, is onboard as Arthur's queen, Guinevere while Sinqua Walls is set to reprise his role as Lancelot.

The show is also reportedly getting "Wayward Pines" alum, Andrew Jenkins, to play the role of Percival, known to be one of Arthur's most loyal knights.

Fans will soon see the Dark Swan and every one of Storybrooke's denizens when "Once Upon A Time" season five returns on Sept. 27, 2015.
