Earlier rumors about season 2 plot suggest that Boros, season 1's main antagonist, will seek a rematch with Saitama. Rumors also say that three other powerful fighters will be featured, including a former ally. Amai Mask is said to take on a Batman kind of vendetta against Saitama whose fight with Lord Boros caused massive destruction in the first season.

Newer speculations say that a civil war will happen instead. The civil war is said to spring from beliefs that Heroes Association is being corrupted. A member named Blast is said to recruit members to form a new movement called Hero's Hunter.

Genos, who was Saitama's first ally and most trusted friend, is also said to be recruited and swayed by Hero's Hunter, while Saitama will choose to remain with Heroes Association. This difference in alliance will cause a big rift between the two, but they are expected to reconcile as soon as real motives are revealed.

Season 2 is also expected to touch a little on Saitama's backstory to help fans understand where he got his powerful punch from.
