'One Punch Man' season 2 rumors: Anime's upcoming season to offer 19 episodes, to explore Saitama's past

(Facebook/One Punch Man)Rumors have it that "One Punch Man" season 2 will explore Saitama's source of power.

After it was finally confirmed that "One Punch Man" will have a season 2, the latest in the rumor mill is that the upcoming sophomore season of the hit anime series will offer 19 episodes and will tackle the backstory of Saitama/One Punch Man's powers.

"One Punch Man" debuted via its freshman season in October last year, which lasted until December in the same year. After the conclusion of its first season, nothing has been heard from Madhouse Entertainment on the status of its second season. The absence of any official word, understandably, gave rise to various rumors and speculations, including the cancellation of its second season.

However, much to the delight of the avid fans of the anime series, it was finally announced at last Sunday's "One Punch Man" autumn festival event that the anime will not only have its second season but will have its own mobile game, too, which is slated to arrive in 2017.

With the confirmation of "One Punch Man" season 2, it is now said that its upcoming season will offer more episodes. Reportedly, the anime series will offer 19 episodes when it returns, an obvious increase in the numbers as the first season only aired 12 episodes.

Apart from, allegedly, offering more number of episodes, it is also said that the upcoming season will fully explain Saitama's power source and his life before he became the bald superhero that he is, as this was not fully explored in the previous season.

It is also suspected that "One Punch Man" season 2 will be based on the "Hero Hunt" arc of the web-comic version of the anime, wherein Saitama and the rest of the Hero Association will join forces against Garou.

As of this writing, there is still no definite date as to when "One Punch Man" season 2 will come out. However, rumors claiming that its highly anticipated season will arrive after its English-dubbed version ends airing on Toonami are becoming more persistent. Should this be the case, "One Punch Man" season 2 can be expected to come out between next month and November.
