OnePlus 3 release date, specs rumors: Will next flagship follow an HTC design?

The OnePlus 3 has yet to come out and many folks are eager to see what the next flagship will look like. As most phones who have yet to reveal much details, a recently leaked photo could be the design the OnePlus 3 might carry and initial impressions somehow see it as similar to the HTC kind of design.

The photos cropped over at Weibo depicting a device shows a casing and an all-metal body design. Its back is slightly curved and also features some antenna bands at the top and the bottom. Sans the camera, the device looks a lot like the HTC One and the only visible markings seem to be the phone's model number (B20565K).

Up front is a noticeable home button (likely to be backed by some sort of fingerprint security as most phones have) while the back shows a camera that seems a bit different. Though still unofficial, this could be the closest one could get, particularly for the ones looking forward to getting the OnePlus 3 at least for now.

As far as other features are concerned, all people can do for now is to turn to the rumor mill. Topping the rumors concerning the OnePlus 3 are a 5.5-inch full HD display and relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC (2.2 GHz). This will be complimented by 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a 16 MP main camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera.

It was already mentioned before that the OnePlus 3 is likely to come equipped with some fast-charging technology. This could point to the alleged "Dash Charge" which the company had trademarked.

As far as the operating system is concerned, it will likely run on OxygenOS 3.0 which will still be based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Did OnePlus actually pull a page from HTC with the aesthetic design for its next flagship?

Again, all of these remain unconfirmed, though more updates should follow in the coming weeks.
