OnePlus Two release date, specs, rumors: Leaked benchmark test hints at new flagship killer on its way

OnePlus has been developing a successor to its "flagship killer" OnePlus One, which had offered users top-of-the-line specifications at half the price of smartphones being sold by the big players in the market. The next-gen OnePlus One, which is dubbed as OnePlus Two, is expected to feature even better hardware specifications and features than its predecessor to provide users with improved mobile performance and flexibility.

The company had not revealed any hardware specifications of its upcoming smartphone, but had announced that it would be extremely different and surprise people. According to the latest reports, the Geekbench Benchmark test for a device named OnePlus One A2001 has been spotted on the site, revealing the technical specifications of the next-gen OnePlus One.

Earlier rumors have suggested that the OnePlus Two could come with a 5.5-inch display having a resolution of 2,560 X 1,440 pixels and would be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and 3,100 mAh battery. According to the leaked GeekBench benchmark test, a new device speculated to be the OnePlus Two, will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop and powered by a Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, paired with 3GB of RAM. The original OnePlus One draws power from a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz.

The Geekbench Benchmark test further reveals that the purported OnePlus Two received a score of 1256 for single-core and 4093 for multi-core. In Geekbench benchmarking, a score of more than 1000 marks in single core and 3,500 in multi-core is considered to be great.

Earlier, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had hinted that the OnePlus Two could be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor and will be available at a price of about $400. If the leaked benchmark test results are true, then the OnePlus Two could turn out to be another flagship killer available at an affordable price. No official release date has been set for the OnePlus Two, but the company is widely expected to launch the device in Q3 2015.
