OnePlus is rumored to be developing a successor to its "flagship killer" OnePlus One and new media reports now suggest that the next-gen phone dubbed OnePlus Two could come with a 'laser-focus fingerprint identification' embedded onto its home button.

OnePlus One had offered users top-of-the-line specifications at half the price of smartphones being sold by the big players in the market. So OnePlus Two is very likely to feature even better hardware specifications and features than its predecessor to provide users with improved mobile performance and flexibility.

The company has not revealed any hardware specifications of the OnePlus Two, though its CEO Carl Pei had announced in January this year that the upcoming smartphone would be extremely different and surprise people. But earlier rumors have suggested that the OnePlus Two could come with a 5.5-inch display having a resolution of 2,560 X 1,440 pixels and would be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and 3,100 mAh battery. Some media reports had indicated that the smartphone would run on Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, while other sources had claimed that it would run on the company's custom platform.

Following its break-up with Cyanogen, OnePlus has been developing its own custom Android ROM, called Oxygen OS, which is designed to give almost a stock Android like experience, similar to that on the Nexus 6. Instead of the polycarbonate frame of its predecessor, the OnePlus Two is rumored to sport a metallic frame made of premium materials, which could result in the next-gen OnePlus phone being sold at a higher-than-expected price.

New media reports now claim that the OnePlus Two will come with a laser focus fingerprint identification system embedded in the home button and carry capacitive Android 5.0 buttons on the sides. The new report also says that the OnePlus Two's design would be similar to the Oppo Find 7 handset, which means that there will be little change in the design from the OnePlus One which already looks like the Find 7. According to the latest report, the upcoming OnePlus Two might not arrive with a microSD card slot, removable battery or wireless charging technology, but will be priced higher than the OnePlus One, most likely because of its metal body.

The OnePlus Two is expected to be announced in Q2 or Q3 2015 and while there has been no official confirmation from the company about its launch date, Carl Pei recently stated that it would take at least six more months for the next-gen OnePlus phone to come to the market. Carl Pei also revealed that the company would be creating separate models for North America, Europe, and Asia to ensure a better range of mobile data network bands. OnePlus has also said that it is likely to once again use the invite system for the OnePlus Two this time as well before moving on to limited preorders.
