OnePlus X rumors: November launch expected

The flagship OnePlus 2 was released earlier this year and it has since gotten good reception from customers who appreciate its design and hardware. However, according to rumors, Chinese manufacturer OnePlus is working on a more affordable device, the OnePlus X, which it reportedly plans to release next month.

TechnoBuffalo, quoting a Chinese source, stated that the OnePlus X will arrive in November. The source also claimed that the device will have a price tag of $249, which is more affordable than the $389 price tag that the 4 GB version of the OnePlus 2 carries.

If the pricing is as low as $249, then it will be a big plus point when the device is released as it will be able to effectively counter other mid-range phablets and bring in more customers for OnePlus. However, there are indications that the OnePlus X will have relatively old hardware and not the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and octa-core CPU that are found on the flagship OnePlus 2.

Last month, Vikas Agarwal, the general manager of OnePlus in India, indicated in an interview that the OnePlus X, when it is released at the end of the year, will have mid-range specs. However, Agarwal and OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei also hinted that the device will focus more on delivering great design to customers and it will be targeted at the fashion conscious.

Since then, rumors have indicated that the OnePlus X will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset on board. If it is true that the device will come with last year's hardware, then it could mean that OnePlus is trying to keep costs low.

As for the launch date, some think that OnePlus could push it out this month, but TechnoBuffalo states that a representative of the company seemed to indicate that early November is the soonest it can be revealed.
