There have been a lot of speculations swirling online about the plot of "Orange Is the New Black" season 5. The acclaimed Netflix series has certainly gathered a loyal fan following, but answers to the many questions lingering in their minds will not come until June 2017.

The entire fourth season was released in June earlier this year — such is the way Netflix does things. And while this allows for the ultimate binge-watching, it also comes with a downside: mroe waiting time in between seasons. But fans need not worry because a fifth season is definitely in the works, with production having already started.

The previous season's finale episode came as a shock to most. Poussey (Samira Wiley) died and Daya (Dascha Polanco) was about to shoot Humphrey (Michael Torpey). And according to Polanco, due to her character's current emotional state, there is a likely chance that Humphrey may get shot. 

As for Poussey's death, there has been talk of Judy (Blair Brown) launching an investigation come season 5. Speaking of deaths, there have also been rumors circulating that Piper (Taylor Schilling) may be killed off. 

Apart from that, it is also widely believed that Poussey's death will be the start of a huge rift between the prisoners and the correctional officers. This was evidenced in the previous season by Daya preparing to fire a gun at Humphrey, but it also looks like the battle will be carried over to the fifth season. And at least for one inmate, "it's war."

"Taystee has nothing to lose, she's lost everything that she cared so deeply about. It's time to fight. I think — I don't know! — but I think that's where we will see Taystee go," Danielle Brooks told The Hollywood Reporter.

As for the fate of the show, there have been speculations that season 5 could be its closing chapter. Many have argued that Poussey's death could be the beginning of the end. However, since these rumors have not been confirmed, fans should take this news with a grain of salt for now.
