"Orange Is the New Black" may have just gotten rid of Lori Petty's Lolly Whitehill character for good, which means viewers of the Netflix series can no longer see her appear on the show's upcoming season 5.

It can be recalled in the previous season's heartbreaking finale that Lolly was being sent to a psychiatric prison after it was discovered that her persistent murmurs about a buried dead body were actually true.

Nonetheless, the truth of the matter is that she wasn't responsible for the dead body; she was only an accomplice to the crime when she helped Alex (Laura Prepon) bury it. Alex, on the other hand, only killed the jail guard, who was later on revealed to be a hired assassin tasked to kill her, because he tried suffocating her. 

"When they took me down the hall [in the psychiatric prison] — they didn't show on the show what was there, they had some awful things that were so awful I think they just cut it out. The stuff I was looking at was just beyond. I didn't want to look at it until we were filming. What you see is real. I guess it was more powerful to watch me seeing it than to actually see it. There were people tied down, people caged up, people being medicated. It was just awful," revealed Petty to Variety as she talked about the particular scene and episode.

iDigital Times opines that when characters on "Orange Is the New Black" are sent away, more often than not, they no longer find their way back to the series. The online publication cites Ruby Rose's Stella character who did not return to the series' fourth season after she was sent away in the previous season.

However, the same source believes that there can still be a chance for Lolly to continue her presence on "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 as, after all, she was not really the culprit for the death of the jail guard and was only an accomplice. If this is proven in the story, she can be back in Litchfield for the series' next season.
