As pledged, Apple Inc. has released the OS X Yosemite public beta for Mac computers and laptops.

"The OS X Beta Program lets you take part in shaping it by test-driving pre-release versions and letting us know what you think. Your comments will help us make OS X better for all Mac users. Sign up today, and the beta software will be available for you to install soon," according to Apple's message.

The build is already being sent out to one million beta program members who will need to log in to the beta website and follow instructions provided in order to participate.

Sign-in using your Apple ID, or create if you do not have one yet through this site.

Once signed in, accept the OS X Yosemite Beta Program Agreement.

This message should appear on your screen thereafter:

"Thanks for signing up for the OS X Beta Program. We will email you when OS X Yosemite Beta is available for download."

You will receive an email from Apple containing the redemption code that will allow you to download and install OS X Yosemite Beta from Mac App Store.

When installed and ready for use, you can play around with the program and send feedback to built-in Feedback Assistant app.

Prior to downloading anything, you have to ensure that your Mac device is running Mavericks, which you can get from Mac App Store.

Users are also encouraged to run the beta in a secondary Mac, since this version may have some bugs, errors and inaccuracies.

As usual, Apple wants you to treat this program with utmost confidentiality.

"Don't blog, post screen shots, tweet or publicly post information about the pre-release Apple software, and don't discuss the pre-release Apple software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the OS X Beta Program," Apple said.

The polished and final OS X Yosemite will be released this coming fall, as announced during the WWDC 2014.
