While it's easy to predict what can possibly happen in "Outlander" season 3, as the TV series is based on the novels in a series of eight books of Diana Gabaldon, it is said that the 3rd season will not feature everything in its book counterpart.

According to reports, no less than Sam Heughan, who plays the role of Jamie, has said that "Outlander" season 3 will not be that faithful to the book where it is based on, "Voyager." While it's true that the production does its best to stick to the events in the book version of the story, the series can't just make the novel episodic.

One of the notable deviations of "Outlander" season 3 from "Voyager" is the first episode of the series' upcoming season. While Jamie does not remember much about the Battle of Culloden in "Voyager," "Outlander" season 3 will kick off with the war itself.

Meanwhile, in spite of slightly deviating from the books, just like its past two seasons, there is no denying that "Outlander" season 3 is one of the most highly anticipated TV events ever. This is despite the fact that Heughan, whose well-chiseled body makes female fans go crazy, has said that his character will not only be older in "Outlander" season 3 but will sport a beer belly, too. After all, the love story of Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is a lot more interesting than watching Heughan's shirtless body.

Despite Jamie already sporting a dad bod on the upcoming season of "Outlander," fans can still expect the series to feature steamy intimate scenes. As Jamie and Claire reunite in "Outlander" season 3 after 20 years of separation, Balfe has assured that fans of the series can expect more intimate scenes between her character and that of Heughan.

"I think to really let the reunion and everything that's going to happen once Jamie and Claire see each other, I think it's really special. Maybe they'll have to wait a little bit, but I don't think it's going to be as scarce as last season, shall we say?" Balfe said in an interview with Vanity Fair last month.

"Outlander" season 3 begins airing over Starz on April 1, 2017.
