'Outlander' season 2 premiere date: Jamie and Claire in Paris to change history; new season set to air 2016

Filming for "Outlander" season 2 is reportedly almost complete and is set to be released in spring 2016. No exact date has been officially announced yet, so fans should keep a watchful eye.

In the second season, the couple, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are back on the "Outlander" set to change the history of Scotland. The journey reportedly has to start in Paris. The second season is said to be an almost exact adaptation of the historical time travel novel, "Dragonfly in Amber."

Some photo teasers were posted on the show's official page on Facebook, and it seems that the plot of the second season will be set in a classy community, where they will be attending some dazzling parties. A widespread rumor states that Jamie and Claire are in search for Prince Charles to prevent the Jacobites' rebellion and to stop the killing incident in Culloden Moor.

Viewers can expect more character additions in the upcoming season as well. Famous French and English stars are set to join the cast.Dominique Piñon, a French actor, will be playing the role of Master Raymond, who is an apothecary in the second season. Romann Berrux is another young French star who has been chosen to play a young Fergus Fraser. The new female addition is Rosie Day, an English actress tasked with the role of Mary Hawkins. English actor Andrew Gower will be bringing Prince Charles to life.

"Outlander" is an American-British television series produced by Sony and Starz. The interesting show is based on a novel of the same name written by Diana Gabaldon. The first season premiered on Aug. 9, 2014 and just six days later, the home network decided to renew it for a second season following the book series. The network's abrupt renewal can surely attest to the show's widespread appeal.
