'Percy Jackson 3' release updates: Clamored-for movie still in limbo

(Facebook/Percy Jackson Movies)Will fans still see Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson in another movie?

Despite Logan Lerman having said it is still possible for another "Percy Jackson" movie to happen, the fate of the movie is still very much in limbo.

It was in 2014 when Lerman disclosed in an interview with MTV that fans can no longer expect a third "Percy Jackson" movie. While the actor admitted that top-billing the two "Percy Jackson" movies opened the doors for him and was a great experience on the whole, he declared that the highly clamored for movie is officially dead.

However, it did not take long before the actor retracted what he said. After his interview with MTV, he clarified with Independent that his statement was misinterpreted, and there is still a possibility for "Percy Jackson 3" to happen after all.

"If we want to make a third one I have to do it, I'm contractually obligated to three movies. I love those movies, they're a lot of fun to make...That was taken out of context when I said that... I said I don't know, I've never heard anything and it's been a while since the second one was released, so I just haven't heard anything about a third film. Unless they call me I think it's unlikely," Lerman went to explain.

It has almost been three years since Lerman made the clarification. However, according to the latest reports, there is still no certainty whether "Percy Jackson 3" is really happening. In fact, it was reported last year that the plan for the movie has already been canceled, and that The CW will adapt Rick Riordan's series of "Percy Jackson" novels into a TV series instead with a whole new cast.

However, information on the alleged "Percy Jackson" TV series is also scarce. Could this mean that it may have been canceled or deferred to give way to "Percy Jackson 3" with Lerman still as the lead actor?

Fans can only hope so.
