'Persona 5' news: Official ESRB rating revealed, hints at some of the features players can expect

(Persona 5 official web site)'Persona 5' is set to be released in North America on Feb. 14

Fans in the United States will have to wait a few more months before they can get their hands on "Persona 5," and when they do, they can apparently expect to experience a game suited for older players.

Indicated in a new Atlus sales sheet, the upcoming role-playing game (RPG) has received a Mature rating from the ESRB. For those unaware, a Mature rating means that the game is suitable for players aged 17 and older.

A few more details about the game can be gleaned from the newly revealed rating. The label hints that the RPG will feature some blood and violence as well. Drug references are also expected to be found in the game, along with some suggestive themes, strong language and partial nudity.

The ESRB rating is also in line with what the game was given in Japan, when it was rated suitable for players aged 15 and older, Persona Central reported.

Long-time fans of the franchise probably aren't surprised by the newly revealed rating.

After all, earlier "Persona" games have also featured elements that have been geared towards older players and (mild spoiler alert) crime mysteries have also typically been at the heart of these installments, and those subject matters usually aren't suitable for younger gamers.

Once released, "Persona 5" will allow players to follow the experiences of young students gifted with extraordinary powers who are attempting to change the world they live in, as was noted in the aforementioned Atlus sales sheet.

The upcoming game is also expected to feature some notable improvements over previously released installments of the "Persona" series as it will include an even larger map for players to explore along with bigger dungeons. Revamped battle mechanics are used as well, but those familiar Personas that aid players in combat will still be present.

Fans in the U.S. will be able to try out all the new features of "Persona 5" as soon as it is officially released on Feb. 14.
