Persona 5 official release date anticipated for October

(Atlus)

Persona 5 has been rumored to see an official release in October, though the game's developer Atlus has not yet confirmed the speculations or provided a launch date. The Persona 5 official web page lists a vague 2015 release date, but there have been no announcements by Atlus through its official website, Twitter, and Facebook accounts.

However, Atlus has just released the much-anticipated Persona 5 trailer, introducing the protagonist as the mysterious Phantom character from the Yomiuri Shimbun advertisement, as well three additional characters: a blonde guy called Ryuuji Sakamoto, a girl named Anzu Takamaki, and a cat named Morgana. The trailer shows the protagonist, additional characters and some gameplay scenes to be experience by the players after the game is released.

According to Gematsu, Katsura Hashino, the game's director, the Persona 5 protagonists will be on the run after doing what they think is right, following something completely out of the blue. Based on a combination of thrills and not-much-greater-than-life ensemble, the developers have come up with the idea of 'academy juveniles.' Depending on the plot and the theme, the players will face different categories of environments and fight it out at randomly-generated locations. Just like the earlier titles, the armaments for each player will comprise of their Personas and two conventional types, a melee, and a gun.

Atlus will also introduce a new set of playable characters, with details of their backstories and their connection with the main protagonist in this franchise. According to media reports, Atlus will introduce feature changes to the game's multiplayer mode.

The latest rumor is that Atlus is getting ready to announce Persona 5 at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the yearly trade show sponsored by Entertainment Software Association and developed for the video game industry. Atlus will be joined by a number of companies and gaming giants who will be showcasing their upcoming releases at this year's E3 to be held between June 16-18 at California's Los Angeles Convention Center.
