Philadelphia Eagles roster rumors 2016: Lane Johnson's reported suspension false?

(REUTERS/ADAM HUNGER)The Philadelphia Eagles' Lane Johnson (right) is reportedly suspended 10 games for performance-enhancing substance.

Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson's agent, Ken Sarnoff, is denying that his client will serve a 10-game ban because of violating the National Football League's (NFL) performance-enhancing drug policy.

In a statement, Sarnoff said, according to ESPN, that they know the rumor regarding the suspension came from a "member of the media."

Sarnoff tried to clear the issue by explaining, "Lane has not been suspended and any report to the contrary is false. None the less we will not comment on my client's protected health information."

In ESPN's report, it was mentioned that the Eagles are yet to comment about the matter.

If the NFL is going to suspend Johnson, it will not be the first time in his career since he already missed four games in 2014 for taking a banned substance.

Johnson missing action for the majority of the 2016 season would be bad news for the Eagles because he was set to replace the injured Jason Peters at left tackle.

But the negative effects will not just be on the Eagles. If Johnson gets penalized, this will cause him guaranteed money and he also needs to return the bonuses (signing and roster) included in his current contract.

Stepping up for Philadelphia if the NFL pushes through with the suspension for Johnson are  Andrew Gardner, Dennis Kelly, and Matt Tobin.

This is something the Eagles do not want to deal with as they start the preseason.

Philadelphia's preseason began yesterday versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Following this, the Eagles will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, and the New York Jets.

The Eagles' true campaign will open on September 11 with a home stand against the Cleveland Browns.

Last season, the Eagles missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year as they finished second in the National Football Conference (NFC) East with a 7-9 record.
