PlayStation 4 Pro specs, release date: Console to hit shelves on Nov. 10

(Facebook/PlayStation)The PS4 Pro will be released on Nov. 10.

Sony is on a roll. PlayStation 4 was first released back in 2013, and the PlayStation 4 slim just hit the market recently. Now, it has been confirmed that the PlayStation 4 Pro, previously code-named Neo, will be hitting store shelves by November.

This is an understandable move, especially considering the holidays are coming. Releasing the PS4 Pro right before the holiday season will lead to increased sales due to the number of people who will buy it as gifts for others or themselves.

But what exactly is so special about the PS4 Pro?

Sony has made it clear that the PS4 Pro isn't the next generation of the PlayStation lineup; rather, it serves as more like an upgraded version of the current console. It has an x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU, clocking in at 2.1 GHz. It also used AMD Radeon for its GPU, with 4.2 TFLOPS, and 911 MHz. As for its memory, it has a GDDR5 8 GB 1 GB DRAM and a 1 TB of internal storage.

It also has 4K resolution support, which is one of the main features that makes it different from the current PS4. Price-wise, the PS4 Pro is set to retail at $399, which is only $100 more expensive than the PS4 Slim. Players who want to optimize their virtual reality (VR) experience via the PlayStation VR will also benefit from purchasing the PS4 Pro, due to its visuals and more immersive performance.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Sony's next-generation console, the PlayStation 5, is speculated to arrive in 2018. It is believed to have more improvements and advancements. The 2018 prediction comes from analyst Damian Thong, who was right about the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim. Considering the two-year gap between the PS4 Pro and the PlayStation 5, it has been said that the time between next-generation console releases may soon be shortened because of rapid developments in the tech industry.

However, since Sony has not confirmed the rumors about the PlayStation 5, readers should take this news with a grain of salt.

The PlayStation 4 Pro will be released on Nov. 10.
