PlayStation Neo release date: When will the console be officially announced?

Ever since word first came out earlier this year that Sony was working on a new console that was reportedly known as the PlayStation Neo, people have begun to wonder when exactly they might get their first official look at it.

For now, Sony has remained quiet on the matter, opting to let the rumor mill continue churning. But it is possible that the company may be set to talk about the new console very soon.

How soon exactly?

Next month may not be a bad guess, as Sony could decide to finally give the public their first look at the Neo during the upcoming E3 event.

As Tech Radar noted, E3 is a popular event for big announcements and it would seem that unveiling a new console would be news worthy of that grand stage.

Still, Sony is far from guaranteed to unveil the PlayStation Neo at next month's E3, though even if the company opts to bypass it for their major announcement, they could still unveil the new console later this year.

According to a recent report from VR World, the new console could make its official debut at this year's Tokyo Game Show event. For those who may not know, this year's Tokyo Game Show is currently set to start on Sept. 15.

Furthermore, the VR World report also suggests that following its Tokyo Game Show debut, the PlayStation Neo could already be made available as early as this coming holiday season.

Sony launching the Neo in September and then following that with a release prior to the end of the year would seem to be quite the quick turnaround, though given how little is known about the console, such a scenario cannot be ruled out entirely at this point.

Hopefully, whatever it is that Sony has planned for the PlayStation Neo, people will find out about it sooner rather than later.
