PlayStation Plus free games for September 2016 rumors: 'Watch Dogs' to be announced? 'DOGOS' not included

(Facebook/UbisoftSEA)'Watch Dogs' is one of the rumored games to be included in the list of free games for PS Plus this September.

Sony has yet to release the official lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for the month of September. While players continue to wait for updates, rumors and predictions about game titles making it to the list continue to make the rounds.

According to rumors, the hacker-themed video game "Watch Dogs" will be included in the list. Its sequel, "Watch Dogs 2," is slated to release this November and this has fueled rumors that the original game will be offered for free for PS Plus subscribers to build up the hype for the sequel.

Other titles rumored to be offered free in September are "LEGO Batman: Beyond Batman" and "South Park: The Stick of Truth." PlayStation Universe also published its list of predicted games, which include "XCOM: Enemy Within," "Bastion" and "DOGOS." However, in an updated report, the publication confirmed that "DOGOS" will not be part of the list.

PlayStation Universe also meant to clarify the predictions at the request of game developer OPQM. "DOGOS" is slated to arrive on PlayStation 4 on Sept. 6 but that doesn't mean it will be free for PS Plus subscribers. OPQM content manager Federico Andrade contacted the publication to confirm that there is no truth to the prediction, emphasizing that spreading such news can hurt the game's sales.

"This article can have a very negative effect on potential PS buyers as they may think that it doesn't make sense to purchase the game if it will be available for free shortly after its release," Andrade wrote. This should be an important lesson for media outlets not to include games that are yet to be released when predicting the list of free games.

At the moment, fans have yet to know the official lineup from Sony. Since this is usually made at the end of the month, it should not be a long wait.
