PlayStation Plus September 2015 free games: 'Grow Home' included after winning vote; PS Plus members get five more titles

(PS Plus community manager (@TheFrannifer))"Grow Home" wins vote to play, making it free to PS Plus members this September 2015

September is rolling out and voting is over — at least for the September 2015 free game for PlayStation Plus users. And the vote-to-play winning title is joined by five more titles, as tradition follows.

Earlier this month, Sony launched a vote-to-play scheme, where PlayStation users can log on to their PlayStations or the PlayStation Plus website and choose one title that will be made free for September 2015. The choices were "Armello," "Grow Home," and "Zombie Vikings." Voting closed last Aug. 24 and the PS Plus community manager announced the winner via Twitter, which is the Steam-powered, "Grow Home."

"Grow Home" lets players control BUD (Botanical Utility Droid), who is in search of the Star Plant that can save his planet. The open world title was released to Sony's latest generation console by Ubisoft and gained a whopping 44 percent of the total community votes. The other contending titles, "Armello" and "Zombie Vikings," will be carrying a 30 percent price slash starting Sept. 1 until Sept. 15.

But the freebie, of course, does not stop there. Five more games will be made available for PS Plus members in the month of September. PS Vita will get exclusive access to "La Mulan EX" ($19.99) and PS3 to "Twisted Metal" ($14.99). On top of "Grow Home," PS4 users will also gain access to "Xeodrifter" ($9.99), "Super Time Force Ultra" ($19.99; also downloadable on the PS Vita), and "Teslagrad" ($14.99; also for the PS3).

With "Grow Home" priced at $7.99, this brings September's free games to a total value of $87.94.

Below is a short description of the free games of September for PS Plus members:

  • La Mulana EX - challenge-adventure game that lets players answer different sets of riddles
  • Super Time Force Ultra - action-adventure, where players go back in time and "duplicate" it to advance
  • Teslagrad - platform and puzzle
  • Twisted Metal - a classic car combat
  • Xeodrifter – players find their way home by going from one alien planet to another

Players can start downloading these free games on Sept. 1
