The official list of PlayStation Plus free games coming in September is not available just yet, though if fans had their way, there seems to be one title in particular that will be included in that list.

Numerous gamers over on the r/PlayStation Plus Subreddit have predicted that Ubisoft's "Watch Dogs" could be one of the free titles offered next month, and there are a few reasons for why that prediction may actually come true.

First off, as many of the aforementioned gamers already noted, with "Watch Dogs 2" already set to arrive soon – Nov. 15 to be exact – Ubisoft can generate a fair bit of buzz for the sequel by signing off on it being included in September's collection of PlayStation Plus titles.

Gamers who may not have been able to try out the first title would have an ideal opportunity to finally experience it were it to be offered as a free game. Perhaps the taste they get of the franchise from this experience will lead to them purchasing the sequel when it is released later this year.

Beyond that, including "Watch Dogs" in next month's list of free PlayStation Plus titles could also help Sony in the long run.

Many subscribers have voiced their displeasure over what they perceive to be lackluster lists of free titles that Sony has offered in recent months.

Offering "Watch Dogs" next month may not completely wash away the memories of the less-than-stellar collections of free games that have already been provided, but it could at least be a sign that shows Sony is still aiming to deliver quality free titles.

On top of that, with the price of a PlayStation Plus subscription going up for players in North America next month, including a high profile title would be one way to incentivize already existing subscribers to stick with the service.

For now, players will just have to wait and see if "Watch Dogs" really will be one of the free games offered next month, especially since there seems to be more than a few reasons for why that would be a wise decision for both Sony and Ubisoft.
