While players of "Pokémon GO" are currently enjoying the game's new update, there are those who are already looking forward to the Gen 2 expansion, which is slated to arrive this week.

Most fans believe that the Gen 2 expansion will be released today while some say that Niantic may roll it out tomorrow, Feb. 18. Nevertheless, it is anticipated due to the eight new Pokémon ready to be captured, hatched and battled against other creatures.

"Today is a momentous occasion for our team here at Niantic which has been hard at work to deliver these additional Pokémon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for our passionate global community of Trainers playing 'Pokémon GO,'" said Niantic founder and chief executive officer John Hanke.

"'Pokémon GO' is a live experience which we'll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokémon to discover and much more," he added.

His statement hinted at some changes in the gameplay of "Pokémon GO," which may include how players capture creatures. There may also be a new type of berries and some customization options for trainers.

Meanwhile, hardcore players have shared their tips on how to prep for the game before Gen 2 arrives. On Reddit, user The Silph Road and others have complied what Pokémon should be ready as they may be evolved further.

One of which is Eevee, which could soon be evolved into Umbreon or Espeon. The Pokémon has three strong evolutions in the game, particularly Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon.

Also, Slowpoke can be transformed into Slowking or Slowbro. Players may probably use a certain evolution item so as to evolve the Pokémon.

Other transformations include Seadra to Kingdra, Zubat to Crobat, and Chansey to Blissey, among others. More tips can be found on the Reddit page or on Bulpedia.
