'Pokémon GO' cheats, tips and tricks: How to catch legendary Pokémon

(Reuters/Chris Helgen)Rare and legendary Pokemon are yet to be spotted in the game.

In the world of Pokémon games, it has always been one of the major goals of players to catch rare and legendary Pokémon. Now that a new Pokémon game craze – in the form of "Pokémon GO" –  is taking the mobile game industry by storm, players are eager to add rare or legendary finds to their Pokédex.

The bad news for those who are determined to catch a rare Pokémon is that it remains to be seen if one will pop out. So far, no one has caught the hard-to-find creatures, but as pointed out by TechInsider, they might pop up eventually. Codes for the legendary Pokémon have been found within the game files so it is likely that they exist - it's just a matter of knowing when and where they'll appear.

While no one has announced about catching rare or legendary ones yet, there are apps that reportedly will help trainers locate the sought-after Pokemon. One of them is an app developed by the same company who brought everyone "Pokemon GO," Niantic Labs. The app is called Ingress and it serves as an alternative tracking device to the standard in-game tracker.

According to Business Insider, one player can attest to the effectiveness of the tracking app. "I found more than a few rare ones by spotting them on radar, then ignoring the radar and using the Ingress in-game map to navigate to those hotspots," the player told the publication. "May not work 100%, but definitely helped me."

Another app that could help with the hunt is called PokéVision, which many users confirm to provide more accurate and consistent data, as reported by International Business Times. The app integrates with Google Maps, which is probably why it can show players the exact whereabouts of a Pokémon. There's also a timer that indicates how long that specific monster will stay in a particular spot.

Until most players will confirm the existence of rare and legendary Pokémon, the apps mentioned above do not guarantee that it can track down and help users catch those types of pocket monsters. Fans will just have to stay tuned for more updates. After all, it was Niantic CEO John Hanke who gave hints about rare and legendary Pokémon. "There are some rare ones that haven't showed up yet that will be showing up," he said. Hanke also hinted that the right team (Team Valor, Team Instinct and Team Mystic) have something to do with the legendary bird Pokemon and that an announcement about these teams will be given "soon."
