The 2014 Pokemon World Championships is happening August 15 to 17 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Last Chance Qualifier for both Pokemon TCG (Trading Card Game) and Video Game players is slated on August 15, while the main events will commence the following day.

Top finishers will receive trophies, Travel Awards, Championship points and exclusive Pokemon merchandise.

Prizes will be given to the Top 32 players in each of the three divisions for Pokemon TCG, and Top 16 for Pokemon Video Games championships.

The three divisions are junior (born 2003 or later), senior (born 1999 to 2002) and masters (born 1998 or earlier).

The first place of Pokemon TCG will enjoy $10,000 scholarship award, a travel reward to the 2015 World Championships including a legal guardian or parent of minors, two boxes of booster packs for each Pokemon TCG expansion set for release within the next 12 months, and factory-sealed complete sets of the fours most recent expansions.

Pokemon Video Game champions will get a $3,500 scholarship reward, trophy and two boxes of Pokemon TCG: XY – Flashfire expansion booster packs.

There will also be autograph signing sessions with Pokemon geniuses Mr. Masuda, Mr. Yoshida and Mr. Ishihara during the last day of the event.

Meanwhile, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Omega fans also have great things to look forward to.

The epic adventure that takes place in Hoenn will be available in Nintendo 3DS consoles on November 21, 2014.

Several hints were dropped on the game's official blog:

"Meet many interesting people and Pokémon Trainers as you travel across the Hoenn region, including Pokémon Professor Birch, who runs the Pokémon Lab in Littleroot Town. With him you will have your first meeting with the Pokémon that will become your partner on your journey, and a new bond will be born."

There are also reports that Mega Slaking will be one of the features of the much-awaited RPG game.
