'Power Rangers' movie update, news: Bryan Cranston and Becky G talk about the movie

(Power Rangers movie website)"Power Rangers" is coming to the big screen next year with different faces and a different version with the same superhero feel.

The movie version of "Power Rangers" will feature new cast members that include actor Bryan Cranston and actress Becky G, who will play Zordon and Yellow Ranger, respectively.

Zordon is the "Power Rangers'" mentor who is confined in a tube at the command center. Talking about his casting, Cranston told The Huffington Post, "At first I was, to be honest with you, I was reticent to looking at the role because I remember the television series was kind of farcical and silly and 'pow' and 'zow' — weird movements and things like that. I was like, 'Oh, OK.'"

After reading the script and talking to the producer, however, he realized that the movie is different and he likened the difference to the "Batman" television series and "Batman" movie series. He said, "There are tenets of the folklore that you hold onto for sure, but the inspiration is different, and the sensibility of it, and the approach to the film making is completely different."

Yellow Ranger fighting the main villain Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) was one of the scenes featured on the trailer shown at the San Diego Comic-Con. The scene shows the ranger helpless against the opponent, and Becky talked to Entertainment Weekly to share what it felt like filming the scene.

She said, "When we did our blocking, our run through, Elizabeth and I really wanted& to make it fun, to make this scene as real as possible. Actually, I got to run through the wall a couple of times. I got thrown up against it and I got to break it myself. My stunt double of course was there, talking me through it, but I was really, really excited. It was a bit intimidating for me because, you know, it's Elizabeth! I look up to her a lot as an actress, so getting to work one on one with her is really cool."

She also shared how fun it was for them on the set and how casually they are dressed during rehearsals. She also shared about feeling the pressure of working with A-list actors on her first film.

"Power Rangers" is scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2017.
