Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and 808 64-bit chipsets now available

Earlier this month, Qualcomm announced its next generation chipsets – the new Snapdragon 810 and 808 64-bits.

The Snapdragon 810 is the most powerful processor to date due to its Adreno 430 GPU on-board. It is expected to be 30 percent faster in graphics performance than Snapdragon 805 which has 420 inside it. Snapdragon 805 has not come to the market yet in many tablets and smartphones.

Adreno 430 provides 100 percent GPGPU faster performance while sucking battery at a less 20 percent rate. The Snapdragon 810 is the second processor the company made with 64-bit computing that is built in, something that only Snapdragon 410 enjoyed so far. Furthermore, it has a set of both quad-core Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A57.

It has an LTE modem that is carrier-aggregated so it will be easy for the device for the airwaves plus support for OpenGL ES 3.1 as well as 4K support over HDMI 1.4, up to 55MP camera sensor, embedded display support, LPDDR4 memory, Wi-Fi AC MIMO, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.1 and a lot more. They give everything to OEMs to create whatever device they want.

Snapdragon 808 is quite less beefy with Adreno 418 GPU, which is about 20 percent quicker in performance than the Adreno 330 (this is what is found in Snapdragon 801, similar to that of HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5). It has just two Cortex-A57 cores with the quad-core set of Cortex-453.

Snapdragon 808 can take embedded displays of up to 2560 x 1600 and a 4k video to the HDMI 1.4 external display. It can also be an LPDDR3 memory support. Snapdragon 808 has features more or less similar to 810.

Both chipsets are for 64-bit computing, but it does not affect Android till they get moving on a 64-bit operating system. Still, it is worth knowing that Qualcomm is making processors lately that are all set for the future advancements.
